Beadsoup Blog Party!
I have been very lucky this year to be a part of the annual bead soup blog party. I believe this is the 8th annual. So I signed up and was paired with Robin Showstack (her blog is here: http://heartsdesiresjewelryforyou.blogspot.com ). Wow was she generous. I have completed two necklaces, one bracelet and two sets of earrings to match some of the other pieces. I still have some left over soup and will make another set of earrings to match the second necklace and if there is anything left over after that I am sure I will find something to make. I am never without an idea or two. I am sure I will find a few on the blog hop too. So hope your having fun at the party. Let me know what you think.
Here is a link to the blog party list. http://www.prettythingsblog.com And thank you Lori for all your hard work and Lisa for all your help. You both rock!
Hugs and Love and Peace to all,
Shari
UPDATED: 5/30/14 I hope these pictures are larger for everyone. I don’t know how to make them enlarge on click. I can’t find that option on the blog.
Bead Soup –
So this is the bead soup I received from my partner Robin. I am super excited to create something with this. That Geisha pendant is fantastic. I see it as the major focal of whatever I make. I hope that Robin liked what I sent her. I have stressed terribly over it being “enough” good enough, quantity enough, quality enough – you know enough! She said it is. I can’t wait to see what she makes out of the things I sent to her.

Life with Georgie
Life with Georgie is interesting to say the least. I know that he knows that he runs this home. What is wrong with that you ask? Well Georgie is a cat. Granted a big 18+ pound cat and he rules the roost. Why else would I open the door at 8 am before I have had coffee, just so he can look out the door. He nips and picks and pulls until I get out of the bed and do what he wants. He sits in front of his bowl and meows and tells me when its time to feed him. He even made the point that just because the food bag was the right one, and yes he knows, did not mean it had the right food in it. Yes life with Georgie is very interesting and I would not have it any other way.
Hugs and Love,
Shari and Georgie

I have my partner and have been in contact the wonderful Robin Showstack who is Heartsdesiresjewleryforyou.blogspot.com. I am excited to see what “bead soup” I am sent and to see what Robin creates with the “bead soup” I send to her.
See you soon,

Suddenly Spring Challenge
I find Facebook to be a wonderful place to hang out with my friends and family from all over the world from the comfort of my livingroom. That is how and where I found the Suddenly Spring Challenge. My friend Lisa from Arizona better known to most as Metal Me This or Joolz by Lisa (both on etsy.com) posted this link to Michelle’s blog and her Suddenly Spring Challenge. http://www.michellemach.com/blog/index.php?url=archives/406-Join-the-Suddenly-Spring-Challenge.html&serendipity[csuccess]=true
I followed the link and loved the base supplies that the challenge was based from.
I was not disappointed when I received this in the mail and I really did not have to do a thing with it. I could have used this as it was and proudly worn it with a ton of things I have. But in the spirit of the challenge, I took it apart and started playing with the components. I added some clear and pink crystals and a few of my lampwork beads and some fun flowers and here is what I came up with.
I hope you like it and please hop over to the other blogs and see what the other participants in the Suddenly Spring Challenge came up with. I am excited to go Suddenly Spring Blog Hopping today and see what all the others did. You can check each of them out here:

Been a long time coming . . . . .
It seems like forever I said I am going back to school. Well I finally did that in 2009 and that is why I have not blogged in forever. But school is done. Yeah me! Beads never really became unimportant to me but time was more precious and blogging took a back seat. I think somethings just don’t stick the first time around but mange to the second. Hopefully blogging will stick the second time. So check back often I plan to be posting new blogs weekly.
Hugs and Love,
Shari

Paying it Forward
I love looking at other peoples blogs and their jewelry and beads. Tonight I ran across an interesting blog by Wendy Hearn. Her post may be found here: http://www.gurucreations.com/news/ . Simply put this is a pay it forward, pass it on, a random act of kindess. I have copied the rules straight from Wendy’s blog, (hope that is how it is done). Now its your turn – Pass it on.
So here is the nitty gritty.
Creative people are adventurous! So, if you would like to participate, please send me a comment and the first five people will receive something from me in the mail.
Here are the rules, and happy posting!
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. This is an adventure!
2. What I create will be just for you with love and good wishes. It will be made of actual materials, not of cyberspace.
3. It will be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be!
5. In return, all you need to do is cut and paste this text on your Blog (from “Creative People are…” and create Five things for the first 5 people to respond to your post.
6. Send your mailing address after I contact you.
IMPORTANT: This offer is null and void if you do not post on your own blog to pay this forward. Would love it if you could join in!!!
To help me in choosing what to make and send you, I will be reading through your blog to get an idea of your likes and dislikes so that I hope you get somthing that you will love!

Choices
When deciding what beads or jewelry to make it seems to be all about choices – choice of color- style- size, what to charge, what not to charge, how many to make, when to make them.
There is some help out there if you take the time to look for it. A quick internet search will yield you the Spring ‘09 fashion color forecast. Spring and summer fashions are hitting the racks and the New York Spring Fashion Week that was held in September ‘08 are all great resources for making your choice of what colors to use this spring.
But basically it all comes down to personal preference. Making the best guess I can and hoping I made the correct decision. So check back in the upcoming weeks as I start posting my Spring ’09 bead collection. I think you will be pleased.

It’s all about Goals!
Hello all, glad you chose to join me today. It’s been a while since I have taken the time to blog. I am going to make it a point to do this every week from now on. I can’t tell you what day but at least one day a week. It’s all about the goals. If you don’t have goals then you can’t grow a person. So my goals are going to be simple to start with. I will blog every week and share with you what I have been making, what new items I have posted in my store and any updates on my website and what I have been learning. Sounds simple enough.
So let’s start with what I have been making. Well not much. I have upgraded to a minor torch and I am thrilled with it. But as with anything new it is like starting over. I have been working on simple spacer beads and finding the sweet spot in the flame. I did take some time to make a cute little winter bead for the bead exchange at my Lampworking group this weekend.
I have also made a bunch of wire wrap earrings a lot of which I have posted in my etsy store. I also reposted a big hole bead also. I am thinking about getting a bead lining tool so that I can start lining them in silver and copper. I just love copper and the look you get when you add it to glass.
I have not updated my website in a while. I really am not sure where I want to go with it. I liked what I started, but then I saw someone else’s that just blew me away. But she states that she did it herself. She did a very good job. So I am working on making a decision on what I want to do with it for next year. I really have not promoted it very much but it feels good just to know that I have it and will not have to worry about someone else using the name.
As for learning something new. Well I was lucky enough that last year I received several books from a friend and they have wonderful tutorials in them and then I also have a subscription to another glass magazine that has instructions. I have made a list of what things I want to learn and I am working on that list. First up was a crayon bead or what I call a stripe bead. Since it is encased I have learned several things while making them including patience while encasing.
The other thing I am playing with is color. I make it a point to put two or more colors together that I think would not normally go together and see what they look like. I have had some interesting mixes. But that is what it is all about. Mixing and matching to make something new and exciting.
Well that’s about all I can think of today. So I am off here til next time. Please check back and if you have any comments feel free to let me know.
